Diving with Dugongs
We'll head up to the best Dugong watching spots to get a glimpse of these gentle sea cows in their natural habitat. Also considered as the mermaids of the sea, this unique creature looks like a manatee but shares a fluked tail similar to a whale. They are the only vegetarian marine mammals and can eat up to 50 kilograms of grass a day!
As part of ecotourism initiatives, you will be briefed by your tour guide on how to safely approach these gentle creatures without disturbing them. Please note that touching is prohibited, and at least 5 meters distance away from the dugong is required.
Wrecks & Lakes
See the sunken remnant of World War II as you enjoy a dive at Irako Wreck. Submerged 40 meters deep underwater, the former Japanese Refrigeration Ship is 147 meters long and 19 meters wide, and is fully covered by hard and soft corals that can be visibly seen from the surface because of the crystal clear waters of the lake. Undoubtedly one of the best wreck dive sites in Busuanga, you have the opportunity to spot hunting tunas, groupers, green sea turtles, lionfish, and even barracudas swimming around.
This lake is famous not because of Barracudas but because of a secret hidden in its waters—an otherworldly thermocline that's unlike anywhere else in the world. Containing both fresh and salt water, the temperature gradually increases as you dive deeper before instantly becoming cold again just a few meters above the lake's sandy bed. A curious and unique sensorial diving experience coupled with impressive limestone formations that you shouldn't miss.
